About the Festival

The Baltics Choral Festival will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania, on July 7 – 13, 2027. The festival will feature a large chorus consisting of mixed-voice choirs from across North America. Three days of festival rehearsals, mingling side-by-side with singers from a variety of backgrounds, will lead festival participants to a grand finale concert in the St. Johns Church.

Under the artistic direction of Ēriks Ešenvalds (Composer & Conductor), singers will perform an inspiring program of choral music commemorating the Singing Revolution (1987-1991), which paved the way for the Baltic States’ independence from Soviet occupation in 1991.

St. Johns Church in Vilnius, officially known as the Church of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist, is one of the city’s most significant landmarks and a symbol of Lithuania’s deep cultural and spiritual heritage. Built in the late Gothic style and later adorned with Baroque features, it forms part of Vilnius University — one of the oldest universities in Eastern Europe. Throughout its history, the church has been a center of academic, religious, and musical life. Its exceptional acoustics and majestic interior make it an inspiring setting for choral performances, where visiting choirs can join a tradition of sacred music that has echoed within its walls for centuries. Performing here offers musicians not only a concert experience but also a profound connection to Lithuania’s artistic and spiritual legacy.
